Annual UHRSC Membership
Skaters: $100.00
Social/Associate (non-skaters): $80.00
Family: $200.00
Term Fees
$120.00 per Term per skater
Includes Tuesday and Saturday lessons, and entry to Saturday and School Holiday Disco’s. (Entry to our Special Fundraising Disco’s is not included)
We are only able to keep the term fees this low by running Saturday and School Holiday public discos. When you join the club you will be given the option to assist with our public sessions which give you the opportunity to earn credit to your club account.
KiwiSkate Classes:
KiwiSkate classes give you a chance to get comfortable on Roller Skates. When you start you will be in the Earlybirds group. There are helpers in this group, but no formal coaching. Once you can balance and push with each foot you will progress to the Tui coaching group, followed by Kereru and Moa. Saturday classes will take the skills you learn on Tuesday and apply them to the disciplines of Figures, Dance and Freeskating. You will also have the chance to learn some new skills during these sessions.
What you need to bring
- Please be ready to skate at 5.30pm. This may mean getting to the rink a little early to sign in and sort out skates.
- Hire skates are provided free of charge when attending KiwiSkate classes.
- Wear stretchy or loose-fitting clothes that allow a good range of movement.
- Bring Your Own protection gear (the club do not provide this)
- Bring a drink bottle
- Don’t forget socks! But don’t worry if you do, we sell socks at the rink!
What will you learn?
You will learn how to skate confidently around the rink. You’ll learn how to balance on one foot and some basic turns, jumps and spins. Once you have mastered these skills you can progress to Squad.
Squad:
The Squad is for our advanced beginners. This is a group lesson, taught by NZFRS Accredited coaches. Skaters in this Squad will learn more advanced artistic skating skills and have the opportunity to sit Medal Tests and travel with the Squad to Central Area League competitions. Skaters will also meet the Club’s private coaches and possibly move on to individual coaching and competition.
What you need to bring
- A great attitude!
- Drink bottle
- A notebook can be helpful to keep track of what you are learning and what you can
- While Club skates are available, skaters reaching Squad level are encouraged to purchase their own skates. For more information about this please see the Kiwiskate Manager.
Once signed up each family will be expected to help out with the Saturday afternoon disco’s a couple of times during the year. You will always be rostered on with experienced club members. We will also require help with school holiday discos. These are very important as our major fundraiser to help cover the cost of the club and for us to be able to keep our fees at a reasonable cost for our members.
