December 2007

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS:

A really enjoyable Club Championships was held at the rink on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to all competitors, judges, officials and everyone who contributed in other ways like providing food, manning the shop etc – without you all we couldn’t run this fun event. A special thank you to family members and friends who came along to support skaters – you being there is important and made this event the special day it is. It was exciting to see so many new skaters competing for the first time. Even though only a few could win a place – all skated well and could be proud of their achievements – please encourage your children who did not win places to continue – time does change things. We look forward seeing all new skaters develop further in 2008.

BIRTHDAY CUP: The UHRSC Birthday Cup is awarded to a club member who has given something to and achieved excellence in roller sports in the preceding year. The recipient should have achieved excellence in their field of skating during the proceeding year, and also contributed back to the sport in some way. If you think you know someone who deserves this award, the criteria and nomination forms will be on the notice board and later this week on our website. Forms need to be returned to club Secretary, Debs McCarthy by 3pm, Saturday 2nd February 2008 in a sealed envelope marked “Birthday Cup”.
