CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS:
A really
enjoyable Club Championships was held at the rink on Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks to all competitors, judges, officials and everyone who contributed in other
ways like providing food, manning the shop etc – without you all we couldn’t
run this fun event. A special thank you to family members and friends who came
along to support skaters – you being there is important and made this event the
special day it is. It was exciting to see so many new skaters competing for the
first time. Even though only a few could win a place – all skated well and
could be proud of their achievements – please encourage your children who did
not win places to continue – time does change things. We look forward seeing
all new skaters develop further in 2008.
Special
Awards
Congratulations
to this year’s winners of two special awards presented annually:-
Michaela Steiner, aged 6 won the Wellington

dance pairs, free pairs, or creative solo dance for her Creative Solo Dance to
the March rhythm.

A special
presentation was made to Karen Reader (pictured
below centre) who is a much valued club member, coach and
judge who is leaving Wellington with husband, Mike and son, Guthrie for the
cooler climates of Dunedin. We thank Karen for all she has done for the club
and our skaters over the years – we will miss you all.

on December 11.
BIRTHDAY CUP: The UHRSC Birthday Cup is awarded to a club member who has given

year, and also contributed back to the sport in some way. If you think you know
someone who deserves this award, the criteria and nomination forms will be on
the notice board and later this week on our website. Forms need to be returned
to club Secretary, Debs McCarthy by 3pm, Saturday 2nd February 2008 in a sealed envelope marked “Birthday Cup”.
