UPPER HUTT OPEN COMPETITION – ON SOON: Our open competition will be held at the rink on June 24/25. The entry
forms are on the notice board now. Entries close Friday 2nd June @
5:00 pm. Payment must be made with entry. Talk
to your coach (if you have one) about whether this competition is suitable for
you. If you don’t have a coach, and would like more information please talk to
Chris Hazelwood or Mary-Anne Thomson.
We also need helpers to
prepare for and run this event. Please mark
Friday 23rd June at 10:00 pm on your calendar to help clean and
prepare the rink, for Open Day. The more helpers we have - the shorter time
spent by all.
We will also be looking
for people to help prepare food for judges and officials meals and to man the
shop. If everyone does their bit, it makes a pleasant day for all.
If you have a trophy won
at last year’s Upper Hutt Open Competition, please return it as soon as
possible, cleaned, and ready to be awarded again this year.
CAN
YOU DONATE A TROPHY?: We have a number of events which we don’t have
trophies for. Would you, your business, or the company you work for, be
prepared to donate a trophy??. Your name (business name) will be engraved on
the award and will become a part of the club’s history. You will receive
acknowledgment of your donation. Trophies cost anywhere from $20 up. Please
talk to Mary-Anne Thomson urgently if you can help. (or e-mail thomson@paradise.net.nz)

when the financial report, president’s and coaches’’ reports are presented. We
need a quorum of voting members for this meeting so please try and be there. Nominations

meeting to present your report, please
e-mail it to bing.c@paradise.net.nz ,
post to Bruce at PO Box 40835, Upper Hutt or give to a committee member by July
17. Thanks to all coaches for the effort you have put into our skaters over the
year.
NATIONALS 2007 – CHANGE OF DATES: Because of a shortage of judges due to the later timing of World’s this
year, NZ Nationals dates have been changed.
Nationals 2007 will be held in Wanganui from January 6 until January 13. Mark/Change this on you calendar now.
PUBLIC SESSION PRICE INCREASE: Because of increasing costs to run our facility, we have been forced to
increase the price of public sessions slightly. The entry charge will rise from
July 01 to $5. Blade hire will remain at $3 and skates free. This will obviously
not affect rink fee paying members who will continue to enjoy being able to get
into these sessions free.
LEOTARDS FOR SALE: We
currently have a range of second hand leotards and brand new practice skirts
available for purchase. If you are looking for something and it is not on
display, please ask Chris or Mary-Anne who will be able to help you.
SKATES AVAILABLE FOR LOAN, HIRE, SALE:
We
are often asked where members can get skates from. The short answer is don’t
buy them in the shops, The skates available in shops are generally not suitable
for artistic skating. They don’t have enough ankle support and are mostly too
heavy. We can loan, hire, sell you second hand skates or point you in the
direction of companies in New Zealand who sell new skates and skate parts.
For more information please feel free to ask Chris or Mary-Anne.
