UPPER HUTT OPEN DAY: This competition held at our rink on June 25 and 26 was a great success with skaters coming from Hawera, Manawatu and Nelson clubs as well as Upper Hutt. A big thanks, to everyone who helped to make this event such a success. We couldn't run these comps without the volunteers who clean up before the event, make the certificates, judge, scorer, and marshal, work in the shop, provide the food for the judges’ lunches, and numerous other jobs. Thank you to all who contributed - especially those who did not have family members skating. Congratulations to the raffle winners: -$50 Note: Steve McCallum (Upper Hutt) Skate Bag: Marg Smillie (Manawatu) Congratulations also to our special award winners Emma Hazelwood and Nika Thomson. Emma won the Ian MacKie Memorial Plate for the most artistic performance of a freeskating or creative solo dance programme by an UHRSC skater decided by a judge who is not an UHRSC member for her Cadet freeskating programme. Nika won the Scorers Choice Cup selected by a scorer for exceptional performance by an UHRSC skater.

MORO BARS The Moro Bars are a great fundraiser for the club. We appreciate the efforts of those who have helped us sell these bars. We have money outstanding. Please if you have a box and have not paid for it, could you get the money to Mary-Anne Thomson or Chris Hazelwood, ASAP. We also still have around 12 boxes to sell. We would really appreciate offers from club members to sell these. Please let Mary-Anne (thomson@paradise.net.nz) or Chris know if you would be prepared to sell a box/another box. Moro Bar Prize Draw held 31st May Congratulations to Bruce Crosby who won the main prize of a skate suitcase, a hand painted blackboard and a family pass to H2O Xtreme in our Moro Bar Fundraising Prize draw. Bruce kindly donated the pool pass back so this was re-drawn and won by Martina Steiner. Tony Burrowes won the runner up, of a family pass, to H2O Xtreme.
