Newsletter July 2003

 

Welcome to all and another successful AGM has been with the future of the Club looking great. On behalf of the Club I wish to thank the members who stood down from the committee and welcome the new. The Committee for 2003/4 year is:

PUBLICITY: Any matters concerning publicity for the Club please contact Mary-Anne Thomson, Chris Picard or Chris Hazelwood. This is important so that the Club gets the best coverage for all members.

 

CLUB RECORDS: If you have, any sort of club records, e.g. results, photos, etc. please contact Natasha Boulcott, Erin Chamley, Michelle Crosby, AJ Picard or Catherine Gowenlock so that they maybe entered into our records for future times. Thank you.

SKATER OF MONTH: Congratulations to Lilly Pirika

 

MEDAL TESTS: Sunday September 7th 2003. Please see your coach to see if you are doing any tests this day. If so, add your name on the list, which is on the notice board, by Tuesday 6th August 2003.

 

COMPETITION: Central League Saturday 30th August 2003 at Palmerston North. This is a great competition for all beginners. Please see Chris Hazelwood for more details. Our Eastern Central Region competition, combined with the Western Central Region, will be, held on the same day so this will be a good chance for some competition before Areas in October.

 

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS: A, great big THANKS to all who help at the holiday discos. These were a success and we have new skaters for our Learners classes. Special thanks, to the Junior Reps. for helping and getting the other skaters to help. In addition, thanks to the skaters, Artistic and Speed, who did the demonstrations for the public for these helped to get the new skaters.

CONGRATULATIONS: Nick Thom, AJ Picard, Antony Nalder and Kirsty Picard for their selection in the Speed team travelling to Venezuela, South America, in November, to represent New Zealand

FEES: There are several fees due NOW, and to save a penalty fee must be paid by the end of July.

CLUB’S ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION: Senior $50, Junior $45, Family $94, Social $22, and Associate $22.

FEDERATION FEES: Cost depending on Class on which you are federating. If you will be competing at a NZFRS event you must be a Federated Class 1 skater. All Officials must be federated for NZRFS competitions.

ARTISTIC: Number renewal $10, New $15 If you will be competing at a NZFRS event you must have your own artistic number to do Artistic.

SPEED: Number renewal $15, New $25, after end of July 03 $25 for late penalty. If you will be competing at a NZFRS event you must have your own speed number to do Speed.

PRECISION: Registration $10. If you will be competing at a NZFRS event you must be registered with the Precision committee to do Precision.

Please make cheques out to the Club and we will pass the money to the various committees. Write on back of cheque what you are paying for. When Carol is not at the rink post your money in the Blue Box. Ensure you included on a sheet of paper on what you are paying for. If you are unsure on what you should be paying, see a committee member.

 

WORLDS: The club will be assisting the above skaters, plus any club Artistic skater selected to go to Worlds, by way of a raffle, extra discos next school term holidays (Sept/Oct) on both Mondays and Fridays and the first disco on a Saturday in August, September and October going to their travel funds. When possible they will help at these events but they will appreciate any help given by any of our members.

 

ARTISTIC SQUAD: Saturday 16th August, at Upper Hutt’s rink. Keep this day free. Mark Lind, National Artistic coach, will be at the squad. The day will be programmed to cover all skaters from Beginners to Senior. Cost for Beginners will be $10 and for all others $30. Watch notice board for entry forms. Upper Hutt coaches see or contact Karen to help organise the programme.

 

COACHING COURSE: A Nationally recognised certificate for coaching of any sport will be held in Upper Hutt in August over two days on Saturday 9th and 16th. Coaching New Zealand - Level One. Registration with payment needs to be received by 4.30pm Friday 1st August. For more information contact Bruce. This course or one recognised by the Artistic committee must be done if you coach skaters that are competing Nationals and you wish to be in the Marshall area.
